FeedFoundry: The Two-Minute QuickStart

FeedFoundry is FeedBurner’s dedicated product for mass feed management. FeedFoundry makes it easy to work with dozens, hundreds, even thousands of feeds at once. This guide provides a basic overview and how-to guide for FeedFoundry’s essential features. It will be updated as the product’s capabilities are updated.

FeedFoundry has three major sections, grouped by tabs: Dashboard, Manage, and Analyze. It also offers the ability to import feeds in bulk through the Import Feeds wizard, linked from the top header area.

Dashboard

Dashboard offers a high-level report on activity and performance across your entire content network.

Audience Engagement charting shows how subscribers are interacting with your content across your entire catalog of feeds. Both itemviews and clickthroughs are reported, and the chart itself reports up to 6 of the top clients, aggregators, and even web-based email apps that a responsible for item interaction.

30 Day Trendlines let you view major statistics at a glance. Click any of the blue linked totals for the most recent day/month to view a detailed report on that statistic on the Analyze tab. If none of your feeds support a particular statistics (example: you don’t use our Email Subscriptions service), a (No Data Available) message will appear instead of a trendline.

Publisher Tips shows recent headlines from FeedBurner’s own Publisher Tips blog. You never know when something we’ve had to say there might come in handy! Other top-level reports about your content, plus additional FeedBurner-specific info, are planned for this “below the fold” section of the Dashboard in the future.

Analyze

Analyze permits you to access detailed reports about audience traffic and ad performance across all feeds or just a select set. Feeds grouped by labels (a FeedFoundry feature not found in FeedBurner) are an easy way to break down reports into smaller sets.

One-click reports are linked from the top of the page; click the title, see information immediately. Interactive reports require a date range and give you the option of selecting a subset of feeds to report on instead of simply all of your feeds. (Interactive reports have the » character at the end of their links.)

Saved Reports Some interactive reports allow you to save your feed set and date settings.

Exportable Reports Most reports, one-click and interactive, allow export of their currently displayed data as Excel or CSV format.

Manage

Manage allows mass management of feeds, activation of services, grouping and organization by labels, and creation of FeedBurner Networks from groups of feeds found in your account.

Most popular services can be mass activated/deactivated in one step. These include BrowserFriendly, FeedFlare, SmartCast, PingShot, Awareness API enablement, Email Subscriptions (including subscriber list management), TotalStats (feed and site), and SmartFeed. Accounts participating in FAN may also review ads for approval across all feeds at once, and they may also create new FeedBurner Networks that include multiple account feeds.

Use labels to organize feeds. Labels quickly group similar feeds, and multiple labels may be applied to each feed. Grouping feeds with lables makes it easier to analyze and manage a select set of feeds. (Labels are private information and are only visible within FeedFoundry.)

Advanced capabilities like downloading all JavaScript snippets at once for email, FeedFlare and site stats feature inclusion on your websites, deleting multiple feeds and applying “locks” to prevent mass changes from applying to certain feeds are also available. (Feed deletion is on a high shelf and you’ll have to ask us explicitly to enable it for your account, however. It’s powerful, destructive stuff in FeedFoundry!)
